Currency exchange service is available in the Check-in Halls A and B only.  There is none after Immigration.

Proceed to the relevant Check-in Counter and request the Check-in Agent or Supervisor to assist for provision of the wheelchair.

You must complete Immigration and Health formalities before proceeding to the Baggage Reclaim Area to recover your luggage. 

The Passenger Terminal is completely non-smoking.   Smoking zones are available prior to entering the Check-in Hall.

Out of Gauge luggage is delivered on a dedicated belt next to the Conveyor Belt No 1.

The Airport is operational during a Cyclone Warning Class I and II.

 

However, flights may be preponed, delayed or rescheduled in case the Meteorological Services of Mauritius plan to issue a Cyclone Warning Class III.  Passengers are thus strongly advised to contact their airline for uptodate flight information prior to leaving for the Airport.

 

SSR International Airport closes down within 3 hours of issue of a Cyclone Warning Class III.

 

It may be noted that during a Cyclone Warning Class III/IV:

 

  • SSR International Airport Landside Car Park is then open to authorised vehicles only.
  • Passengers and members of the public are not allowed to stay at the Airport.  
  • All airport business activities  - including food and beverages, shops, etc. - close down due to local cyclonic constraints.  

 

Most flights will be rescheduled as a result of a Cyclone Warning Class III/IV in Mauritius.   

 

Passengers and members of the public are thus strongly advised to contact their airline for up-to-date flight information prior to leaving for the Airport during a Cyclone Warning Class III - the more so as driving is prohibited three hours following the issue of a Cyclone Warning Class III. 

 

SSR International Airport generally resumes operation within three hours of the issue of Termination of a Cyclone Warning Class III/IV subject to all Airport facilities being up and running.

Passengers and members of the public are advised to contact their airline for uptodate flight information prior to leaving for the Airport to avoid staying long hours at the Airport.
